AP to have Skill Development University: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu

  Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the state will soon have a Skill Development University. In a conference with Vice-Chancellors of Universities, the Chief Minister suggested them to use modern methods of teaching to revamp the education system in the state. He added that teaching methods have to be made innovative and every day should be different for students. Instead of rote learning, the Chief Minister added that VCs and teachers have to push students to think creatively and come up with better ways of comprehending their thoughts into words. On improving curriculum in higher education, the Chief Minister said that AP has to aim to adapting international standards of teaching which allow students to visualize and speak them out. Giving examples of Gross Enrollment Ratio in US, UK and Japan at 95%, 69% and 92%, respectively, the Chief Minister said that AP too has to aim at achieving such rates. The Chief Minister also added that all the hostels and educational institutions in state be equipped with Wi-fi for students to stay connected to the world and its happenings. By 2050, the Chief Minister said, Andhra Pradesh should have highest literacy levels and become top education hub in the world.
