Telangan government seeks NIIT partnership in Cyber Security


Information Technology Minister Sri K. T. Rama Rao invited noted training institute NIIT’s hairman Sri Rajendra Singh Pawar to partner in the Digital/Computer education to government schools in Telangana. The Minister explained various IT initiatives undertaken by the Telangana government. Sri Rajendra Singh, who is also leading the NASSCOM’s Cyber Security Task Force, appreciated the efforts of government in this regard.

The Minister informed that the State government has been in talks with Carnegie Mellon University for conducting research in cyber security issues and is planning to introduce special courses in Telangana universities on the subject. Sri K. T. Rama Rao also drew Sri Pawar’s attention to State government signing MoU with C. R. Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science and financial services multinational company MasterCard evincing interest in collaborating with Telangana government on cyber security.

T-Hub, the incubation eco-system of the State government, will also encourage research in cyber security related areas. Tata Group’s FC Kohli Research Centre on Intelligent Systems at IIIT-H is also taking up cyber security as the research areas. The IT Minister has asked the NIIT Chairman to choose Hyderabad as the destination for conducting research on Cyber Security given the intense activity taking place here. The Minister also wanted private entities to impart training to people and create a pool of cyber warriors. Sri K. T. Rama Rao expressed optimism that Telangana government and NIIT will soon enter into an association in the field of cyber security.
