GMR appointed APSDC chairman

GMR appointed APSDC chairman Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu has appointed industrialist Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao as the chairman for AP Skill Development Corporation. During the meeting, the Chief Minister was given a presentation on skill development plan in the state. The Chief Minister said that Mr Rao has the capability of changing the face of the state in skill upgradation. The budget allocated for the skill development program in the state is Rs700 crore. In 10 years, the Chief Minister said, about 2 crore people will be part of the government’s skill development program. At the end of the training session, these people will receive certificates. Training will be held in various sectors including mapping, construction, manufacturing, etc. At the mandal-level, training will be given in agriculture and allied activities while at the district-level training will be given in garment-making, plumbing, etc. Similarly, at the regional (Rayalaseema, North Coastal Andhra, Central Andhra) level, training will be given in computer/software courses, healthcare and energy sector. For Coastal Andhra, the Chief Minister suggested that people from the region be trained in marine, Naval and shipping-related industries. By 2016, skill development centres will be operational and the Skill Development Corporation will be officialy launched before January 15th, 2015, the Chief Minister said.
