Hyderabad, December’06: Enthused with the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister of AP, Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu, several Japanese power companies are showing keen interest to make sizable investments in state and especially in the power sector including harnessing the green power of solar as AP is known as sunshine state. With the personal monitoring and CM’s intervention helped the state to attract Japan Power industrialists, who are ready to set up manufacturing plants of wind & solar panels in AP in a big way.
While delivering his key note address during a high level conference of “Andhra Pradesh Power Conclave -2014” at Hotel The Park, Sri Ajay Jain, Secretary, Energy, Govt. of AP, disclosed the above details and said that Govt. of AP has initiated several measures to increase the generation capacity, strengthening the T&D network, harnessing the Green Power such as solar & wind, to realize the targeted energy savings through energy efficiency apart from enhancing the consumer service enabled with IT initiatives.
Hon’ble Chief Minister, who has recently led a delegation of officials to Japan, suggested that all Govt. officials and employees should inculcate the habit of 3’D’s i.e. Disciplined work with Dedication duly Dreaming big in extending the value added services to all categories of consumers, who are the real pay masters, added Sri Ajay Jain.
Energy, Secretary, further said that AP is targeting to bring down Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses to single digit i.e. 9% as against the Central Govt. target of 12%. He hoped that with the concerted efforts of Govt., power utilities, private developers and all stakeholders, the State of Andhra Pradesh will become a generator free and inverter free state in near future.
While interacting in the conference, Sri TL Shankar, IAS(Retd.) & professor of ASCI, who has appreciated the efforts of Govt. in taking up of various initiatives in power sector said that AP is progressing well and will become a role model on power front particularly in energy efficiency activities by taking the power reforms to a logical end with improved consumer service.
During the meeting, Sri K. Ranganatham, Former-JMD/APTRANSCO, who has been appointed today as adviser to Energy Dept., Govt. of AP said that Govt. has directed power utilities to keep sufficient rolling stock of Distribution Transformers (DTRs) in all subdivisions for replacing the failed transformers within 24 hours in rural areas also on par with urban areas without putting a single rupee burden on farmers for transportation of DTRs.
