Telangana efforts to complete Hyderabad ITIR project
Under the
Chairmanship of Chief Secretary two meetings were held on 23.06.2014 and
12.11.2014 to review the progress on ITIR project, where all the heads of
concerned line departments attended. As a follow up action to review meetings, Secretary,
ITE&C wrote to all the concerned departments requesting them to form
steering committees to review their respective department work by Chief
Secretary. on 25.11.14 for way forward of ITIR.TSSPDCL has constituted a
steering committee with four committee members for the purpose of the works
related to ITIR. HMDA called for bids inviting consultants for preparation of
master plan for ITIR Projects. Six consultants evinced interest however none
have qualified.HMDA has again prepared RFPs and is in the process of notifying
inviting bids from consultants to prepare unified master plan for Hyderabad
(instead of ITIR alone). Secretary, ITE&C Dept wrote to Secretary, DeitY
requesting him address letters to concerned ministries related to ITIR to
release funds and issue approvals/sanctions for works mentioned ON
19.11.14
In response to Secretary, ITE&C Dept’s letter Secretary, DeitY wrote letters to Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and Chairman of the Railway Board requesting their respective departments to take up works as per the decision of the CCEA and also requested to depute one of their officials to the meetings convened by Chief Secretary, Telangana on ITIR.In response, R.O., MRT&H was instructed by their Head quarters to attend all the future meetings on ITIR. However sanction of funds amounting to Rs 165 cr for the two approved components in the phase-1 is awaited from GoI.Only 2 ITIR projects have been approved by GoI till date, one at Hyderabad and other Benguluru.
GoI is in the process of making amendments to
the ITIR scheme and making necessary changes to guidelines.Once GoI makes the
necessary changes to the scheme, only then there will be forward movement in
implementation of any ITIR project in the country.
