Andhra Pradesh State Government is considering importing of onions toboost domestic availability

 The Andhra Pradesh State Government is considering importing of onions to boost domestic availability of the commodity and to prevent hike in its prices, Chief Secretary said. 
 Sri I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary discussed today on the issue in a meeting with the Officials of Civil Supplies and Agriculture Marketing Departments. Retail prices of onion have already risen between Rs.30/- to Rs.40/- per KG at present. To keep an eye on price, 930 Tonnes of subsidised onions supplied through Rythu Bazaars by the concerned Department, Chief Secretary informed. 

 Chief Secretary directed the officers to prepare an Action plan to look at the possibility of import onions from outside the state, in case of crop failure due to bad weather.
